Work Life Harmony Tool 01

Boundary Builder

Identify the need, separate what you can control from what requires a request, and create clear language for the situation.

Before you begin

A boundary describes what you will do, allow, or communicate.

A request asks another person to take an action. You can use both, but you cannot guarantee another person’s response.

This tool does not assume every workplace or relationship is safe for direct boundary setting. Consider power, retaliation risk, culture, employment rules, and available support.

This educational tool does not provide legal, employment, safety, or mental health advice. When needed, use appropriate supervisory, human resources, union, accommodation, legal, clinical, or safety support.
